Tough at the Top for Ladies 2's

Stroud Ladies 2's faced their toughest opposition this season against top of the table Evesham and Badsey. Stroud's defence were surpirsed early by overloading of players by Evesham in the D and conceded two early goals. Goalkeeper Emma Crowe took charge and organised the defence and midfield to ensure no player was left unmarked. This opened up the opportunity for Emma Boyd to score Stroud's first goal from a great pass up the wing from Sophie Wathen. Then just before the half time whistle Evesham scored from a deflected short corner, score 1-3. Stroud regrouped and Sophie Wathen scored from Victoria Sharpe's short corner slip, 2-3 just after the half time whistle. Evesham then counter attacked to score their fourth and fifth which was answered by Georgia Ford's post deflection into the goal making the score 5-3. In the last ten minutes Stroud upped the pace even more with great passing and marking, and after many shots on goal, Emma Boyd scored her second of the match 5-4. Stroud kept the pressure going in the closing moments of the game but were unable to get the equaliser. This leaves Stroud still in second position in Severn 2 but with Evesham and Badsey a clear 3 points ahead. Star player: Emma Boyd
