On its very first appearance, Stroud's 3rd X1 gave an impressive performance with some terrific passing, marking and intercepting.  The club's junior coaching over the past few years has meant that there is a flow of excellent young players joining the adult ladies and this match was a combination of young players and experienced players.  Charlotte Bullock played well as sweeper during the first half with the experience of Teigan Hurlock and Sophie Powell breaking down the Hartpury attack.  Sian Freer brought strong match play experience and daughter Ellie focused on tight man-to-man marking. Jenny Howorth was excellent as an attacking mid-fielder and experienced, calm and accurate keeper, Jordan Turnnbull, ensured that the Stroud team maintained a clean sheet.   The forwards were outstanding, with Megan Campbell, Elise le Francois and Freya Robb seemingly having played together for years, such was their anticipation of the movement of their fellow forwards.  A fabulous run up the pitch from Megan allowed Elise to neatly score Stroud's first goal and a fabulous short corner move from Jenny Howarth and Freya Robb enabled Elise to score Stroud's second goal.  Experienced mid-fielders Kathy Williams and Victoria Sharpe ensured that the links between the defence and forwards were well managed and timely.   A great start for the new team.
