Deserved Win for L2

Stroud played some fantastic hockey in this local derby against Cirencester with exceptional passing, movement on to the ball and marking. The forwards were on fire with their attacking moves swift, wide and determined. It was great to see the forward line working so well together moving into space, picking up balls down the line and creating space for their team-mates by pulling the Cirencester defenders wide. The mid-field and defence ably supported the attackers and made it extremely difficult for the Cirencester attack to enter the 'D'. When the challenges came the defence, led by captain Aleasha Holder closed rank, marked determinedly and ensured that Cirencester were unable to hit the back of the net. Stroud's goal was a fabulous run from the centre field into the circle by Freya Robb: her first time this season on the forward line and one which she clearly relished. Debbie Ratcliffe, looking to add to her goal tally, was disappointed to have a goal disallowed during the second half. Every player contributed to this week's victory and it would have been against the run of play if Stroud had not been awarded a very well deserved 3 points.
