Ladies 2nd team off to a cracking start!

Stroud Ladies 2nd X1 started the season with aplomb with a fabulous show of pacy, accurate and well-thought out hockey.  The Stroud and Wotton teams were fairly evenly matched with both keepers kept busy but it was a fine shot from Sian Freer who opened the season's scoring for Stroud.  There were some fabulous moves across the pitch, up the wings and into the 'D'.  The Stroud forwards were fast and furious and looked likely to score on many occasions.  The mid-fielders were dominant in the centre of the pitch which prevented Wotton from achieving the breaks they wanted.  The defence was on its mettle and some fabulous marking and tackling meant the Wotton attack was stopped time after time.  The team has a number of returners and new members this season:  it is credit to every member of the squad that the team looked composed, well practised, united and confident.  A great start to the season!
