Ladies 2nd team get the better of Bassett

Stroud ladies 2nd X1 hockey team started the season with determination and  showed some excellent ball skills with a 3-0 over Wotton Bassett.

Stroud had much of the pressure and had a run of shots on goal which resulted in a number of short  corners.  The team has a new short corner routine, unpractised until the match and the corners will undoubtedly become slicker with  practise.   All 3 goals came from open play.  Nic Kelly-Davies got Stroud off the mark and went on to score a second, and Hannah Scott ensured a comfortable winning margin with the third.  There was some great passing from Katherine Stevens on the right and Kathy Williams on the left which beat the Wotton Bassett defence and allowed the Stroud attackers to surge forward.  The Stroud defence held firm and ‘emergency keeper’ Becky Stevens made some important saves to ensure the Stroud side maintained a well deserved clean sheet.
