The score of the match did not reflect the relative possession of the ball by each team:  Stroud played some good, controlled hockey and strikes on goal from Sandra Glass, Carrie Sanders, Nic Kelly-Davies and Andrea Preston were all just wide of the mark.  Much of the Bourton attack was from the team’s left wing and time and time again Katherine Stevens was required to intervene with a strong tackle.  The defence fought hard to maintain its clean sheet and was unlucky to concede a goal scored from a short corner.  Midfielders Victoria Sharpe and Pauline Edgington (player of the match) remained calm despite some unusual tackling by their opponents and the Stroud team was disappointed not to at least draw the match.
