The Stroud side was beaten by the speed of the opposition, any loose balls, missed passes or inaccurate pushes by either side, were swept up by the fleet-footed EG team.  The Stroud side was put under sustained pressure for most of the match and as the conditions deteriorated (hailstorm for just under an hour), so players began to make mistakes as their fingers were unable to gain a tight grip on the stick handles and their visibility was impaired.  Stroud worked hard throughout the game and the scoreline is not a reflection on their effort.  They did attack strongly on several occasions and were rewarded with several short corners, but it was a movement from open play in the dying moments that saw Di Furlong fire a shot across EG’s bows for Carrie Sanders to deflect deftly into the net, for a deserved consolation to go some way to warming up shivering bodies.
