Stroud’s coach, Richard McColl, was on hand to provide strategic coaching and recommend tactical changes during this week’s 2nd X1 match.  With the new pitch at the LC the Stroud team always has a home advantage as the surface causes the ball to ‘bobble’ rather than run completely flat and it takes new users of the pitch 10 or 15 minutes to adjust.  Normally Stroud makes good use of the time to buffer itself with a goal, but this time it was Blockley that scored the first goal.  Undeterred and even more determined the Stroud team began to settle into its normal rhythm, allowing Pauline Edgington to ‘zing the ball into the top corner’ of the net.  Stroud’s top scorer, Nic Kelly-Davies then pushed home a ball on the rebound and the team went into half time with a 2-1 lead.  During the second half Stroud’s defence was called upon to dispense with a number of Blockley attacks, and Andrea Preston saved a goal on the line while Di Furlong & Katy Stotesbury made some important clearances.  The second half saw further goals from Stroud, with Hannah Scott’s powerful strike finding the goal and Victoria Sharpe making her trademark solo run and pushing the ball past the Blockely keeper.  Another good result for Stroud who will be training hard on Tuesday in preparation of meeting the team currently above it in the league.  Player of the match Kathy Williams.
