You've Been Nic'd!

Stroud’s forward Nic Kelly-Davies made an impressive start to this season with a double hat-trick, scoring 6 of Stroud’s goals against Thornbury.

Stroud was very slow to get started but finally the rigorous short corner practise at training allowed Hannah Scott to open the scoring for Stroud when she powered the ball into the left hand corner of the goal from a direct strike. At half time the score was 1-0.

During the second half, Stroud got into its stride and played some flawless, textbook, attacking hockey.  The squad’s practise over the past few weeks had allowed the team to become accustomed to the bounce and speed of the Leisure Centre’s recently laid Astroturf pitch.  The new players in the squad this season - Katherine Stevens, Victoria Sharp, Emma Tapley and Letty Adams all fitted into the ‘diamond’ system well under the experienced guidance of this season’s team captain Katy Stotesbury.  Regular members of the squad slotted into their new positions impressively with Lizzie Woods and Carrie Sanders expertly and swiftly supporting the attack on many occasions.

A great start to the season and the team is looking forward to its first league game in a few weeks time.  Player of the match was Nic Kelly-Davies.
