The Club is formed to provide facilities and administration for the playing, by its members, of hockey and any other sport which may be conveniently combined with it.
The following shall be members of the club:-
The President who shall be proposed, seconded and elected at each Annual General Meeting (AGM) and shall hold office until the next AGM, but shall be eligible for re-election from year to year.
Vice-Presidents who shall be proposed, seconded and elected at each AGM and shall hold office until the next AGM, but shall be eligible for re-election from year to year.
Life Members who shall be proposed, seconded and elected at an AGM of the club.
Ordinary Members who shall be proposed, seconded and elected at any meeting of the committee of the club and shall, following such election, be allocated by the committee to one of the following groups of Ordinary Members within the club:-
Men’s section, comprising male members of the Club primarily involved in playing men’s hockey.
Women’s section, comprising female members of the club primarily involved in playing women’s hockey.
Mixed section, comprising male members of the Club primarily involved in playing mixed hockey.
Such Allocation may be changed from time to time, by the committee, where a member of the club changes his or her primary involvement from one section to another.
Vice-Presidents and Ordinary Members shall be required to pay an Annual Subscription of an amount to be decided at each AGM of the club.
All Annual Subscriptions shall be payable on 31st October in each year. Any person who has failed to pay the annual subscription by that date shall be suspended pending payment and shall not be entitled to participate in any actions of the club.
5. MATCH FEES
Every Member playing in a same using the Club’s facilities or name shall pay a Match Fee of an amount to be decided by a resolution passed at each AGM of the club.
If, at any time, the Committee of the club shall be of the opinion that the interests of the club so require, they may, by letter, invite any member to resign from the club within a time specified in such a letter. In default of his or her resignation, the question of his her expulsion shall be submitted to a special General Meeting of the Club to be held within 21 days of the date specified in such a letter, as the date before which he or she shall be invited to resign. The member whose expulsion is sought shall have notice of such meeting and of the grounds on which it is sought to expel him or her. At such a meeting the member shall be allowed to offer an explanation of his or her conduct, verbally or in writing, and if two thirds of the members present shall vote for his or her expulsion, he or she shall thereupon cease to be a member of the Club. It shall be in the power of the committee to exclude such member from the Club Grounds until such special General Meetings shall be held.
Any person, on ceasing to be a member of the club, shall forfeit all rights to, and claim upon, the Club, its property and funds.
The entire management of the club (except as otherwise provided herein) shall be carried out by a Committee comprising of the following Officers who shall be Ordinary members of the Club:-
Men’s Team Secretary
Ladies Team Secretary
Mixed Team Secretary
Men’s Fixture Secretary
Ladies Fixture Secretary
Mixed Fixture Secretary
Captain of each Men’s Team
Captain of each Ladies Team
Captain of each Mixed Team
Such Officers of the Club shall be proposed, seconded and elected at each AGM of the Club, save that, in the case of the Team Secretary, Fixture Secretary, and Captains for each section of the Club, only those Ordinary members of the Club belonging to the section of the Club for which the officer is to be elected shall be entitled to propose, second or vote in the election of such officer.
The officers so elected shall hold office until the next AGM of the Club unless any such officer resigns or ceases to be a member of the Club, when the Committee shall have power to appoint an Ordinary Member of the Club to a vacant office until the next AGM of the club.
The Committee shall meet at least once every six weeks during the season. Notice of meetings shall be sent by the Secretary to each officer. A quorum shall consist of six Officers.
8. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Annual General Meeting of the club shall be held in the month of May in each year, upon a date and at a time to be fixed by the Committee.
The Committee may at any time, for any special purpose, call a Special General Meeting of the Club and they shall do so forthwith upon receipt of a written request of any ten Ordinary members, stating the purpose for which the meeting is required.
At least 14 day before the AGM or any special General Meeting, a notice of such meeting shall be sent to every member.
The Chairman shall take the chair at all meetings of the Club and Committee. In his or her absence the Vice-Chairman shall take the chair. In the absence of both the Chairman and Vice-Chairman an Ordinary member elected by the meeting shall take the chair.
The Quorum at all General Meetings shall be 20 members.
Alt all meetings of the club and of the committee every ordinary member present shall have one vote upon every motion and, in the case of equal votes, the chairman of the meeting shall have the casting vote.
Any action by the Club concerning the provision of ground facilities or the raising of revenue from members which affects any of the 3 sections of the Club shall not be authorised unless approved by a majority of the Ordinary members of that section present and voting at a General meeting or a Committee Meeting at which such action is proposed.
This Constitution may be added to, repealed or amended by resolution at any AGM or Special General Meeting Provided that no such resolution shall be deemed passed unless it be carried by a majority of at least ¾ of the Ordinary members present and voting, nor shall any such change have effect unless notice of the proposed change was given in writing to all Ordinary members at least 14 days before the meeting at which the resolution is to be put.
If at any General Meeting a resolution for the dissolution of the Club shall be passed by a majority of the Ordinary members present and such resolution shall at a Special General Meeting held not less than one month thereafter at which not less than 1/2 of the Ordinary members shall be present be confirmed by a resolution passed by a majority of 2/3 of the ordinary members voting thereon the Committee shall thereupon or a such future date as shall be specified in such resolution proceed to realise the property of the Club and after discharge of all Liabilities shall go to the local community or to another “not-for-profit” organisation with similarly charitable objectives and upon completion of such division the Club shall be dissolved.
