GOOD WARM UP FOR LEAGUE GAMES

22 February 2015 at 11:57

Victory in this match rested upon which side dominated the mid-field. In the first half Yate had control with their centre half and right half proving to be effective forwards and Yate scored before the half time whistle. During the second half Stroud's marking of those key players meant that Stroud had control of the midfield, allowing Ellie Towler to score with just 2 minutes remaining. Kathy Williams' marking and Jordon Turnbull's tackling were excellent and GK Aleasha Holder made a number of important saves as did the Yate keeper, to leave the final result a draw.

19 points 30 goals 7 games unbeaten

08 February 2015 at 20:47

Stroud Mens 3s continued their string of good results to bring another 3 points home against Bouron and Sherborne on Saturday. Recent results make good reading with 30 goals in 7 games and 19 points. Determined performances on all parts of the pitch made Stroud look good in posession of the ball and resulted in some good team and individual goals. Alex Elders strike from the top of the D, Andy Readers fantastic individual goal from a quick break on the halfway line and James Testars battling in the follow up to a short corner outlined in a dominant period of play in the second half. This on top of goals from captain Chris Bargh and a short corner strike from Matt Watts in the closely fought first half of the game put the result beyond doubt. The result was satisfying as the previous fixture saw Stroud lose 4-0 away at Bourton. Sitting a point off third with 6 fixtures remaining, the 3s continue to build on their good team performances. Keep up the good work lads!

3rd PLACE IN THE LEAGUE FOR LADIES 2nd X1

07 February 2015 at 17:15

Stroud fielded a team with a perfect mix of youth, experience and determination.  The Chipping Campden side had earlier in the season been top of the league and Stroud knew that it would be under pressure to pass well, stop the ball accurately and tightly mark the opposing forwards.  The marking was particularly challenging as the Chipping Campden team was constantly changing its formation and players were swapping from side to side throughout the game.  Another great pass from Hannah Scott allowed Evie Robb to fire the ball into the goal and put the Stroud team ahead in the first half.  Chipping Campden came out fighting and Stroud had to defend a run of short corners and some determined attack into its circle:  the Stroud defence reacted by raising its game to ensure that the good work by the forwards and midfielders in taking the lead was maintained.  The last 5 minutews of the match were dominated by Stroud's ex-Vixens players with the attack of Evie Robb, Iona Strang, Jemima Friend, ably supported by Teigan Hurlock in defence, running rings around the tired legs of the Chipping Campden side.  Another 3 points and a great result for the team.
