L2 Hold off Strong EG Side

Stroud came up against tough opposition at Stratford Park on Saturday, but succeeded in retaining their place at the top of the division with a 1-1 draw.
Stroud got off to typically impressive start, finding space and passing well to dominate the game. The home side failed to capitalise on their strong attacks and when East Glos did manage to get the ball into Stroud's D, they scored, leaving the home side a goal down at half time.  This gave East Glos the psychological advantage and Stroud’s game lost its dominance.
In the second half Stroud came out determined not to succumb to defeat and regained their form. Good performances across the team, with particular strength in the half line, meant it wasn’t long before Nic Kelly-Davies found the goal with a great strike from the top of the D, latching onto a Jade Rigglesford pass. At 1-1, battle ensued. Strong defending from both teams meant no further goals.
A draw was good enough to ensure Stroud Ladies' 2nd XI retain their place at the top of the division as we go into the Christmas break.
