L2 v East Glos - GK Ella Bullock Star Player!

Stroud Ladies 2 defence - Molly Combe, Elaine Noone, Sophie Payne and Mopsy Voss - worked incredibly well from the start, East Glos only managing to get one pass keeper and star player, Ella Bullock in the first half. Buoyed by their performance, Stroud 2 attacked hard in the second half - Elaine Noone, Victoria Sharpe, Esme Clarke, Freya Wallace, Ellie Freer, ML French and short corner taker Voss, only just missing out. Debut player Aimee Robb did find the goal, but her slap in was taken from just outside the D. East Glos took advantage of Stroud's attacking play and scored 4 more in the second half, all on the break.

L1 - LOSE OUT AT BOURTON

Stroud faced a long journey to Bourton-on-the-water for an afternoon pushback. Bourton started strong scoring within the first 10 minutes. Stroud didn’t let their heads drop and were awarded with a penalty flick which was converted by Amy Lloyd-Jones. Stroud’s defence absorbed continued pressure from the Bourton forwards but eventually scored from a short corner just before the half time whistle.

The second half saw Stroud continue to push into the Bourton half with some strong running from Freya Robb down the right wing. Stroud managed to win another penalty flick but Amy Lloyd Jones’s strike was disallowed. Bourton came back fighting and managed to scored a further 3 goals making the final score 5-1.

L2 - 2 more against Evesham!

Stroud 2 ladies went with 10 to Evesham who benefitted from the extra player, scoring four in the first half. Stroud 2 continued to play their solid passing game and were rewarded with mounting pressure in the D, Ellie Freer slipping one past the Evesham keeper before half time.

In the second half, the majority of play was in Stroud's attacking 25, with Stroud wining 3 short corners. With numerous strikes on goal from star player Hannah Scott and Jenny Howarth, it was a slip to Kanyana Mutalindwa that resulted in Stroud's 2nd goal. Evesham continued to attack on the break and scored three more, one from a short corner routine.

L2 Score 3 against Badgers!

Stroud Ladies 2 started the match with Leonie Collie scoring in the first minute. Stroud kept the pressure on but Badgers forward line attacked with pace through the Stroud midfield and defence, putting undue pressure on GK Jennie Davies. 1-7 first half score.

In the second half, Stroud attacked and defended together, Maria Smart scoring in 10 minutes. Mopsy Voss organised Stroud's defence and Tracey Morris, the midfield, giving Stroud 4 unconverted short corners. Badgers also had 4 unconverted short coners, defended by Sophie Payne, Mhairi Spring, runner Molly Combe,  GK Ella Bullock with Victoria Sharpe saving one off the line. Good passing between Freya Wallace, Georgia Ford and Jenny Howarth in the D, led to Elaine Noone's reverse slap giving Stroud a 2nd half 2-0 lead. Badgers eventually scored a deflected goal. Final score 8-3.

L1 - HATRICK FOR NORMAN

Stroud Ladies 1st XI went into this game still thirsty for points after a run of losses.
The game started with an early short corner awarded to Cheltenham which they converted with a super strike on goal.  The scoreline was short lived as Stroud came back with a great pass from Sam Norman to Amy LloydJones who quickly found the backboard.
A quick break in play and Cheltenham soon scored again but Stroud weren't deterred at all and put in some wonderful work through the strong midfield and sent the play back into Cheltenhams 25, where a smashing strike from Sam Norman was sent past the Cheltenham keeper and into the net.A further goal from Norman saw the half time score at 3-2 to Stroud.
Second half saw more determination, great passing and solid work from the Stroud defence who denied Cheltenham the pleasure of scoring anymore goals.A slick short corner goal from Emily Campbell made it 4-2 and a final smash from Sam Norman saw the final score 5-2 to Stroud.

L2 score against Leominster

Going away with 10 was always going to test Stroud L2 with their 4-4-1 formation. Centre Backs Hannah Scott and Molley Combe deftly picking up any loose attacking players. Leominster however soon found the extra player an advantage, scoring 4 times in the first half. The second half, saw Stroud dominate with the majority of the play in Stroud's attacking half,Tracey Morris cross to Esme Clarke giving Stroud 2 a well deserved goal. Despite 2 further short corner strikes from Jenny Howarth, Leominster responded scoring three more on the break. Great game ladies! Final score 1-7. Star players: Morris and Scott

L1 - FACE TOP OF THE LEAGUE GLOUCESTER

The ladies 1s faced top of the league and an unbeaten Gloucester side. Gloucester scored a scrappy goal within the first two minutes but Stroud quickly fought back with a goal from Emily Campbell. Gloucester quickly reacted and scored 3 further goals despite Stroud defending hard.

The second half saw Gloucester piling on the pressure scored another two goals from short corners in quick succession. Stroud pushed back with good play down the right from Freya Robb and earnt a short corner. Sophie Wathen’s strike was denied by the Gloucester keeper along with several rebound shots from Sam Norman and Amy Lloyd Jones. Gloucester scored a goal in the final minute to make the final score 7-1.

L1: Stroud unable to reign in the Rain

Stroud held their own in the first half against Leominster putting pressure on the Leominster goal. Emma Boyd and Leoney Colley moving the ball with the pace up the left wing. Despite precision marking and passing in the defence, Leominster found a spare unmarked player and scored just before half time. 0-1 In the second half, the game started with Stroud dominating the attacking play, near misses from Amy Lloyd-Jones and Freya Robb. Leominster then converted a short corner from a break way attack. Followed by torrential rain and two lucky goals from Leominster. Final score 0-4 Star Player Emma Boyd

L2 v Chipping Camden

Chipping Camden scored 3 times in the first 20 minutes against Stroud Ladies 2. Stroud stepped up, leaving no Camden player unmarked and won its own short corner, Sarah Mace strike blocked by the keeper. Chipping Camden responded scoring a fourth.

In the second half, Stroud moved up and down the pitch as a single unit and put more attacking pressure on Chipping Camden - Forward and midfield: Freya Wallace, Sarah Mace, Ellie Freer, Molly Combe, Maria Smart and Victoria Sharpe getting opportunities in the D. GK Jennie Davies made some excellent saves, but despite a more organised defence- Lizzie Woods, Sophie Payne, Elaine Noone and Mopsey Voss - Camden found the net twice more.

Despite the score, Stroud 2 learnt a lot about team tactics. This game clearly demonstrated the importance of tactics in the new league and how all eleven players are required in both densive and attacking play. The structure in the second half now gives a basis for all games going forwards. Well done to all!

L3 - BADGES OF COURAGE

Ladies Thirds were back up to full capacity this weekend, welcoming a courageous group of new players from the youth squad. ?Stella, Olivia, Tabby and Holly all bravely joined the L3s for an entertaining match, demonstrating their grit, athleticism and skill. All four ladies integrated well with the rest of the team and earned compliments from the opposition for their invaluable contribution. Grace and Jules supported the back line tirelessly and Katherine moved up to midfield and used strong hits and plenty of pace to keep the ball out to the sides. Lansdown put in a hearty performance, scoring 4 goals. Player of the match went to Mopsey who put in a heroic performance at the back.
